# Overview Guilds & local organizations play an essential role in the everyday life of Séllurian citizens. Many guilds are local and tailored to the population they serve. Others are larger in scope and are the same across [[Séllur]]. The kingdom spanning guilds are the ones this page is about. Guilds have a lot of influence in Séllurian settlements, meaning that the [[Houses of Séllur|Houses]] have a big incentive to control them. With the House's monopolies on various Séllurian industries, the guilds have to navigate an difficult role in between the common people and the Houses. There are as many good guildmasters as there are corrupt, and many of them are distant relatives of nobles. Guilds must pay dues and pass inspections by [[Marleau|House Marleau]] to hold an official status. This means House Marleau is the major power behind punishing members of guilds who break their oath and managing bounties across Séllur. This influence makes them a major patron of mercenaries and adventurers across Séllur, although indirectly in most cases. # Mercenary Companies Mercenary companies are abundant in Séllur. There is always someone that needs a beast slain or just help doing labor. There is a lot of money in the mercenary game and many people who can't make it as knights or retainers often become mercenaries. The two most popular companies are the Band of Francois and the Bleu Banner Company. Both are of very high quality and very expensive. # The Royal Archives The Royal Archives operate out of [[Bosquia]] and track Séllur's history, the pedigree of the [[Houses of Séllur|houses]] and serve as protectors of this knowledge. Many scholars spend their lives dedicated to the Royal Archives only to really master a fraction of its seemingly infinite stacks. [[Baldewyn Marfourt]] was the leader of the Royal Archives for its entire existence before he retired in 602. # Spark Seekers The Spark Seekers are a relatively new organization in Séllur that seeks to understand the ancient [[Thescryan Empire|Thescryan]] Magic and make sense of the anomalies the empire left behind. The Spark Seekers are considered to be anti-establishment and buck the traditional warnings to not meddle in powers they don't understand. They seek knowledge above all else. # Criminal Organizations Séllur has many criminal organizations varying from small time smuggler rings to properly organized forces. Séllur's knights and dedication to honor makes life as a criminal tough but with the recent chaos in the kingdom their activity has greatly increased. # The Wagoneers The Wagoneers are a traveling service available to anyone. They have fixed prices and run to almost any settlement in the kingdom. They are greatly appreciated and make connecting the vast kingdom much easier. # The New Path The New Path is, ironically, a very old druidic order that operates out of the [[Smoothstone Mountains]]. They travel across Séllur, restoring nature and resisting those that seek to exploit it. They are mainly composed of orcs but find membership in all species.
