# Overview The Kingdom of Séllur is one of [[Tavra]]'s premier powers. It is famed around [[Vallaera]] for its vast trade networks and sheer amount of agricultural exports. The Kingdom experienced immense prosperity for its entire existence with the help of the [[Soleil]]. The Soleil enriched the sun's rays and ensured the citizens of Séllur stayed healthy, the harvest was always good, and that resources were abundant. The Soleil is a hereditary artifact, passed down by Séllurian monarchs for generations. The current Queen, [[Josette Jacquemond I]] is its current holder. Séllur has fallen on dire times though. Around half a year ago, The Queen fell into a seemingly eternal slumber. Whether it was some curse or an unheard of poison nobody knows. What is certain is that with her slumber, her ability to wield the Soleil's power has greatly diminished. No longer does the sun give its enriching rays, or does Séllur have a great monarch. A great power vacuum has opened in Séllur and many factions are vying to fill it. The most prominent of which are [[Houses of Séllur|The Seven Houses]] that rule Séllur which are as follows: ##### House Jacquemond *For more information see [[Jacquemond]]* The Jacquemond's rule Séllur and are directly descended from its founder, [[Jacque]] "the Star who became Knight." They rule the [[Crownlands]] directly but have power throughout Séllur through the other 6 vassal houses. They are considered a Greater House although they hold a status above all others. ##### House Coucher *For more information see [[Coucher]]* The Coucher are Drow that rule the [[Dusk Counties]] of Séllur. They are one of the Greater Houses. They are more guarded than the other houses and were the most recent addition to Séllur's territory. They have a strong rivalry with House Midinet that has recently become more prevalent than ever. ##### House Midinet *For more information see [[Midinet]]* The Midinet are a human house that rules the [[Day Counties]]. They are one of the Greater Houses. They are incredibly family oriented and have a reputation of being in everyone's business. They have a strong rivalry with House Coucher that is beginning to reach a breaking point. ##### House Leverge *For more information see [[Leverge]]* House Leverge is a fey descended house that rules the [[Dawn Counties]]. They are one of the Greater Houses. They operate the shipping lanes and Séllur's maritime trade. By far the richest house, Leverge are much more docile than the other nobles. They are content to relax on their nice beaches, rake in their gold, and coast through their duties. ###### House Lansois *For more information see [[Lansois]]* House Lansois is a largely human house that rules their portion of the [[Crownlands]]. They are a Lesser House. They act as Séllur's spiritual and religious guides. They are the most dedicated to academic excellence and producing strong Séllurian works to strengthen Séllur's cultural status across Vallaera. They prefer to keep to themselves but have become more active than ever following the Queen's slumber. ##### House Verfille *For more information see [[Verfille]]* House Verfille is a goliath descended house, although many are more human today. They rule their portion of the [[Crownlands]]. They are considered a Lesser House. They are the most industrious house, aiding in construction across the Kingdom. They are the only house that can properly forge Sol Steel, which is a powerful resource for any of Séllur's knightly orders. ##### House Marleau *For more information see [[Marleau]]* House Marleau is a human house with draconic ancestry. They rule their portion of the Crownlands. They are considered a Lesser House. House Marleau is famed for their martial prowess, rivaled only by House Jacquemond and Midinet. The members of House Marleau produces more knights than any other House in Séllur. They hold sway over the many guilds that govern the daily life in Séllur. # History Séllur was founded in 384 AD, following the [[Petaled Revolution]], spurred on by the heroics of [[Jacque|Sir Jacque]] and the [[Blooming Blades]]. Following their defeat of [[The Hierarch]] and the fall of the [[Thescryan Empire]], the Blooming Blades came together at what would become [[Tavra/Kingdom of Séllur/Bosquia]] and founded The Kingdom of Séllur, dedicating it to the goddess [[Sélluria]]. It is said that her favor transformed the grove they stood in into [[Bosquia]], the modern blossoming city that Séllur calls its capital. Séllur has fought many wars in its history but the two most relevant are the [[War of Smoke & Shield]] and the [[Moondrop Rebellion]]. ## Geography - The [[Crownlands]] - Gold on the map - The [[Dawn Counties]] - Pink on the map - The [[Day Counties]] - Red on the map - The [[Dusk Counties]] - Purple on the map ![[Sellur.png]] ![[provinces.jpg]] ## Species & Cultures *For more information see [[Séllurian Species & Culture]]* Séllurian culture revolves almost entirely around family and honor. Breaking oaths and promises is one of the ultimate social taboos. It is expected that people act in accordance with their station in society and respect their family's wishes above all else. The many species of Séllur follow this societal framework although some may differ slightly. ## Religion *For more information see [[Séllurian Pantheon]]* The Séllurian Pantheon revolves around [[Sélluria]], Goddess of the Sun. She powers the Soleil and brings prosperity to Séllur. The gods in Séllur are interpreted in a slightly different way than the rest of Vallaera. # Guilds and Organizations *For more information see [[Séllurian Guilds & Organizations]]* Séllur has many guilds that help govern the local settlements and their communities. The Noble Houses are each privileged with a monopoly that serves as their main revenue source, so the guilds are an essential middle man in any business dealings in Séllur.
