# Overview The Primrose Council helps administer the realm. During the current regency, the council commands a lot of power with Prince Hubert’s weakness. As a regent, Prince [[Hubert Jacquemond]] does not possess the absolute power his mother would. This means he is basically a glorified overseer of the council with no real power to influence its decisions. The Primrose Council was created by the [[Séllurian History|Primrose Concordat]] which was signed by [[Jacque|Jacque]] and the [[Houses of Séllur|Lesser Houses]] at the founding of [[Séllur]]. The Members of the Primrose Council are: - House [[Midinet]]: Saul Midinet - Brother of Duchess [[Vivienne Midinet]], he was a member of the [[Fleurier Order]] for over 20 years before his retirement in 617. He served as the Interim Commander of the Fleurier Order before Henri was officially named commander He was a valiant warrior but is past his prime. He has a reputation for being fair but stubborn, especially in his old age. - House [[Coucher]]: Darforth Coucher - The nephew of Duke [[Drakith Coucher]], his father was killed in the war that brought the [[Dusk Counties]] under Séllur's control. Darforth is the oldest member of the council at over 300 years old. He is devoted to House Coucher and bears open resentment against House Midinet for the murder of his father. - House [[Leverge]]: Bertran Leverge - A 3rd cousin of the new Duchess [[Ermesinde Leverge]], he is a popular investor in maritime trade. He made most of his fortune with his West Sea Shipping Company based in [[Chamtreu]]. Rumors abound about his selection for the council with many believing he has bought his seat while others point to House Leverge's chaos instead. - House [[Marleau]]: Daliah Marleau - Niece of Count [[Orderic Marleau]] and older sister of Commander Henri, Daliah is a popular patron of the arts. She is popular in the Marleau lands for funding both commoners and nobles in their creative endeavors. She is known to be a shrewd politician, rarely finding herself in any open scandals. - House [[Verfille]]: Julius Verfille - Third cousin of Count [[Esclamonde Verfille]], Julius is a smith at the politician's table. Like many of House Verfille, Julius cares about the Verfille lands and not much else. He is known to represent the people of the Verfille Counties fairly but is near impossible to get a meeting with. - House [[Lansois]]: Eden Lansois - Sister of Count [[Mercurio Lansois IV]], Eden is the second eldest on the council. She served as an Annointed Promissory of [[Sélluria]] for much of her youth. Her devotion to both Sélluria and the Kingdom resulted in her curent position as councillor. - The First Duke/First Duchess: [[Duncan Darby]] - The husband of Queen [[Josette Jacquemond I]] and father of [[Hubert Jacquemond]], Honora Jacquemond, and Sir Galien Jacquemond. The First Duke is the traditional title given to the monarch's partner. The First Duke administers the [[Crownlands]] more directly than the monarch who presides over all of Séllur. He is well liked and can be found at almost any ball or gala. - Fleurier Commander: Henri Marleau - The nephew of Count Orderic Marleau and younger brother of Daliah Marleau, Henri is one of the youngest on the council only in his early 30s. Henri is most well known for his exceptional conduct during the [[Moondrop Rebellion]]. His heroics earned him the respect of his generation and enough renown to be trusted with the Fleurier Order. - Fleet Admiral: Galien Jacquemond - Brother of Queen [[Josette Jacquemond I]], he has been the Fleet Admiral for over 20 years. Galien has gained a reputation for his volatile temperament and rash decisions. Somehow this disposition does not stop him from having an almost perfect record during tenure as admiral. His competence was a major factor in Séllur's victory in the Moondrop Rebellion. - First Councillor: [[Lucien Verfille]] - Second son of Count Esclamonde Verfille, Lucien breaks from his family's strict mold. He is a talented leader and administrator. He came to fame during the Moondrop Rebellion where he served with the Arcane Legions, eventually becoming a captain. He is largely trusted by the people and has proved himself with [[New Sélluria]]'s success.
