# Overview The heartland of [[Séllur]], the Crownlands are administered differently than the other kingdom's holdings. The Crownlands are officially ruled by the [[Jacquemond]] monarch, but the actual administrative duties fall to their partner, who takes the title of First Duke who governs from [[Bosquia]]. The Crownlands are also unique in that its counties are not all governed by one house. The [[Houses of Séllur|Lesser Houses]] ([[Verfille]], [[Lansois]], and [[Marleau]]) each control two counties within the Crownlands on behealf of House Jacquemond, while House Jacquemond directly controls four counties. This makes the Crownlands the largest of Séllur's four duchies. # Geography The Crownlands are the most geographically diverse of the Séllurian duchies, containing plains, forests, hills, and mountains. The Crownlands hold both the [[Foxhold Woodlands]] and [[Silvermorn Forest]], along with [[Rothmund's Hills]] and part of the Smoothstone Mountains. The Crownlands' position in the heart of Séllur makes it well traveled and full of travelers. A common joke, especially in the cities, is that a lot of people live in the Crownlands but no one is actually from the Crownlands. The people of the Crownlands are considered to be some of the most industrious and diverse in Séllur. # Demographics The Crownlands are some of the most diverse lands in all of Séllur, especially Bosquia. Spanning from the northern coast to the Foxhold Woodlands, many different people call the Crownlands home. The central and southern counties are home to many [[Séllurian Species & Culture|Strunian & Fedevan]] humans, Taryn orcs, and many fae folk within the Foxhold Woodlands. In the north, there are more Lurrish humans, Silvermorn Fae, and even secluded Lantid Elf communities. # Counties **Bosquia** Countess [[Josette Jacquemond I]], Queen of Séllur, and Speaker of [[Sélluria]]. The administrative responsibility is given to First Duke [[Duncan Darby]], Josette's husband. **Foxhold** The county of Foxhold contains the heartland of the Foxhold Woodlands, with its capital at Verdeville. Count Cador Jacquemond, a younger cousin of Queen Josette and brother of Countess Henriette, is the current ruler of Foxhold County. **Clear Rock** Countess Thalia Jacquemond rules the mountainous county of Clear Rock from Frolicholm. Frolicholm's location on the Smoothstone mountains makes its mining industry incredibly valuable for House Jacquemond. **Wavecrest** The county of Wavecrest is the northernmost province of the Crownlands that contains Lake Fervor. Wavecrest is ruled by Countess Henriette Jacquemond, a cousin of Queen Josette and older sister of Count Cador. **Quietpoint** *For more information see [[Mercurio Lansois IV]]* Count Mercurio Lansois IV rules the County of Quietpoint, the north-easternmost county of Séllur. Quietpoint is ruled from the city of Quietpoint and dominated by the [[Silvermorn Forest]]. **Caledon** Count Zel "the Forgotten" Lansois rules the County of Caledon. Caledon's capital, Marvesille, is the greatest port city in the Lansois lands. **Villefort** *For more information see [[Esclamonde Verfille]]* Count Esclamonde "the Twain" Verfille rules the mountainous county of Villefort. Villefort is the largest city of the Foxhold Woodlands and most influential under Verfille control. **Monteu** Count Leomund Verfille, the brother of [[Lucien Verfille]] and son of Esclamonde. Monteu is rule from Dasfort, the only port city in Verfille lands. **Murufort** *For more information see [[Orderic Marleau]]* Count Orderic Marleau rules the old city of Murufort. Murufort is one of the most defensible cities in all of Séllur. **Thastille** Count Theodoric Marleau ruled Thastille from the hill top city of Barosque. Thastille is known for its hills and small settlements being one of the only counties without a city.
