# Overview The Blooming Blades were a legendary group of knights that came together in the [[Petaled Revolution]]. Together, they were able to destroy the [[Thescryan Empire]] by destroying the evil sorcerous queen. They are considered the founders of [[Séllur]] and each founded one of the [[Houses of Séllur|Noble Houses]]. Only seven of the houses survive today, with House Marfourt, Votarre, and Teselon having died out or absorbed through marriages. The Booming Blades were led by Sir Jacque who would be crowned the first monarch of [[Séllur]]. The members of the Blooming Blades and their respective houses are: # Members **Jacque**: The Founder of House [[Jacquemond]]. He is recognized as the greatest knight in the history of Séllur. He was kind, generous, gallant, learned, and formidable. He exemplified the teachings of Sélluria and was named her Speaker in accordance with his great devotion. Today, the Speaker of Sélluria is one of the many titles of the Jacquemond monarch. He was said to be able to call down righteous rays of the sun and cloak himself in its light. *For more information see [[Jacque|Sir Jacque]]* **Dorian Coucher:** The founder of [[Coucher|House Coucher]], Dorian was a Drow of high pedigree. He was incredibly learned in the arcane arts and had honed his craft with centuries of practice. According to legend, his father was a Frost Giant, giving him domain over the frigid winds in the [[Dusk Counties]], a sorcerous strain his descendants are known to inherit. **Joan de Leverge**: The founder of [[Leverge|House Leverge]], Joan came from a family of sailors and merchants. Her charisma and wealth helped fund the Revolution and bring in more recruits to fight agains the Empire. Her enemies would declare her an enchantress due to her fey heritage and ability to enthrall others with her speech. She was not as formidable a fighter as the other Blades but is still remembered for her skill with a dagger. **Marian**: The founder of [[Midinet|House Midinet]], Marian came from a family of farmers and ranchers. Even as a young girl she tended to [[The Blanket]] and became famous for her strength. She is immortalized in legend and songs of her carving swaths through the monstrous Thescryan troops, defending the lands of the modern [[Day Counties]] and healing those in need. **Juliette**: The founder of [[Lansois|House Lansois]], Juliette was raised in a convent, her birth parents and family history unknown. In her childhood she learned the teachings of [[Sélluria]] and set out to fight darkness in accordance with her teachings. She was one of the first to align with Jacque. She is known for her immense devotion to Sélluria and, according to legend, ability to speak directly to her. **Rothmund**: The founder of [[Verfille|House Verfille]], legend says that Rothmund was born from the very mountains themselves. It's said that his skin was impenetrable and as strong as steel. He is recognized as the first smith to create [[Sol Steel]] and began the Verfille tradition of craftsmanship. Rothmund was able to outfit the entire revolution with his uniquely powerful armor and weaponry. The bond between Jacque and Rothmund is the stuff of legends. **Sir Thaselot de Marleau**: The founder of [[Marleau|House Marleau]], legend says that Thaselot was descendant of a dragon and could even sprout wings and breathe fire. Sir Thaselot's honor and dedication to both the revolution and then the Kingdom of Séllur is legendary. He is considered a shining example of a true knight. **Lady Ena Marfourt**: The founder of House Marfourt, older sister of [[Baldewyn Marfourt]]. Lady Ena's proficiency with conjuration magic allowed her to literally be multiple places at once. Her unique skills were said to be a blessing from the god [[Séllurian Pantheon|Iaias]]. She was from an ancient noble lineage and became the first Queen of Séllur after marrying Jacque. With their marriage, [[Baldewyn Marfourt]] was the only living Marfourt left. He never sired any offspring so their house is effectively fallen. **Claris**: The founder of House Votarre, the Votarre were the only Orcish house of Séllur, hailing from the Smoothstone Mountains. She inherited the druidic traditions of her ancestors, the same that have survived until today. It is said that her will was so strong even the mountains bowed to it. House Votarre died out in the 5th century, with the death of Grand Count Molir, the County of Clear Rock became part of the Crownlands. **Wavespeaker Sharkan**: The founder of House Teselon, Sharkan was named Wavespeaker at a young age. The title of Wavespeaker holds great spiritual importance to the Aquatic races of Séllur, said to give the blessing of [[Sinnan]]. Sharkan ruled over the [[Darkwave Bay]] where House Teselon would rule for centuries before becoming a vassal house of House Coucher in the 6th century, and then completely annihilated in the [[Moondrop Rebellion]]. **[[Quincy Gainier]]**: The only member of the Booming Blades to not join his banner in the end. Quincy negotiated with Jacque and created the [[Soleil]] in order to secure a large swath of magically rich land for himself. He became the founder of the [[Sacred Lands of Gainier]]. He has a complicated legacy in Séllur today. He both created the Soleil but worshiped Lunéria, and the Sacred Lands have gotten into many conflicts with Séllur in the past. Some of the relationships of the Blooming Blades can be seen even today. Thaselot, Rothmund, and Juliette were the bannermen of Jacque and the first to join his banner. Their loyalty led to them being the first vassals of Séllur, joining into what is now the [[Crownlands]]. House Midinet, Leverge, and Coucher were either conquered or annexed later in Séllur's history and used their situations to leverage better privileges for their House.
