The Gleaning refers to the centuries-long historical practice across [[Anatha]] to euthanize magic users. Old records show the practice lasted from somewhere around 200 BYO up until sometime in 700 BC. Deep resentment and fear of spellcasters led to the eradication of wizards, warlocks, bards, sorcerers, and druids. Clerics and paladins were the sole exception to the rule, as the Anathans were heavily devoted to their gods. This practice was ended when Anatha began to connect with other continents more often. As communication with [[Tavra]] and [[Ayuma]] became more common, Anatha became more tolerant of magic. However, even to this day Anatha is less magically developed than any other continent. It has the fewest colleges and social stigmas against arcane studies have led to Anatha's magical weaknesses.
